The historic Rose-Gulf Station was an original gas station on the old highway long before U.S. Hwy. 25e came through Tazewell. It was initially built. This station was built in 1930. The station stayed operational until 1956. The station appeared in the 1958 cult classic Appalachian moonshining-inspired "Thunder Road". The service station was refurbished by the city in the early 2000s and is owned by the city of Tazewell. It currently serves as a museum of the 1930's time era and local history.
